How the Switchboard Designer works

Enter how many DALI fittings, sensors, DMX fixtures, switch inputs and relay outputs your project has. The designer then:

splits the DALI devices into lines of up to 55 addresses (a DALI line takes 64 at most — we leave headroom), with up to 10 sensors per line and a UBi bus supply on every DALI line;
splits DMX fixtures into lines of up to 512 channels;
packs the lines onto eDIDIO Series 10 controllers — the 4P runs 2 lines and 12 switch inputs, the 6P runs 4 lines and 18 inputs and adds an SD card for logging;
adds up the 24 V draw of everything on the board and picks a Meanwell HDR DIN power supply loaded to no more than 80%;
draws the DIN rail footprint and a connection diagram, and lists the parts.

Every line can be edited afterwards and everything recalculates. The result is indicative — send it to us and an engineer will confirm the specification and quote. For LED strip and fixtures, use the LED Driver Calculator.

Terms used

eDIDIO S10 4P / 6P: The two eDIDIO Series 10 controllers, named for their width on the DIN rail: the 4P is 4 poles wide and runs 2 lines with 12 switch inputs; the 6P is 6 poles wide and runs 4 lines with 18 switch inputs, plus an SD card for diagnostics and logging. Both take up to 4 relay outputs.
Order code: How the controller is ordered: model, then how many lines are DALI (D) and DMX (X). For example eDIDIO S10 6P 2D 1X is a 6P with 2 DALI lines and 1 DMX line.
Line: One DALI or DMX bus from the controller. A DALI line takes up to 64 devices (we suggest no more than 55, for headroom) plus up to 10 sensors; a DMX line carries 512 channels.
UBi: The UBi DALI bus power supply — one on every DALI line, 2 poles wide.
Pole: One standard DIN-rail module, 17.5 mm wide. Adding up the poles gives the length of DIN rail the switchboard needs.
HDR power supply & % load: The Meanwell HDR 24 V DIN supply that powers the controllers and modules. The % is how much of its rating the board draws; we keep it under 80%.
4-ch DALI relay · 2-ch 0–10V output · DMX Splitter: The LIDA D (4 DALI addresses), the DALI 0–10V converter (2 addresses) and the DMX Splitter (for more than 32 DMX devices on a line; no RDM).
